My Cars

My very first car was a 1969 AMX, and as much as I love the early models I’m not old enough to remember them when they were new. I was saving up money to buy my first car when the Hornet AMX was introduced, and I knew right then that someday I would own one!

Firecracker Red 258 Automatic

My first Hornet AMX was found in 1984 as a local used car that had already been driven over 100,000 miles when I bought it. I drove this one year round until trading it for a Big Bad Blue 1969 AMX. Then I bought it back in 1987 and added a set of newer AMX wheels before selling it again in 1988 to purchase my first new vehicle, a Jeep Comanche. Current whereabouts unknown.

Firecracker Red 304 Automatic

I have owned this Hornet AMX since 1999 after a friend found it hidden in a Cleveland body shop. It has just 8,203 original miles after being wrecked in the right front corner when almost new, then parked ever since. Except for the 304 V8 it has few options, not even a radio. It is currently undergoing a detailed 100% stock restoration since it may be the lowest mileage unmodified example in existence.

Sunshine Yellow 304 Automatic

This Hornet AMX was purchased in Phoenix, Arizona in 2011. Previously it had been located in Oregon, Massachusetts and Illinois. It’s an extremely solid car which has been upgraded with a dual exhaust system, air conditioning, cruise control, plus the hood and hatch decal set. This Hornet AMX was featured in the July 2011 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine.

Alpine White/Levi’s Interior 258 Automatic

Like the yellow one, this Hornet AMX was found on craigslist, only this time in New Mexico. It was originally from Colorado and has the high altitude 1 bbl. carburetor. It’s one of the rare Levi’s interior models which also has air conditioning, rear window defroster, hidden storage compartment, plus the factory original hood and hatch decal set. A future restoration is planned.
